The large propane torches used for heating metal during welding, etc work great for killing weeds. The problem with using a weed wacker is that you cannot really use it on gravel, throws rocks everywhere, dents cars if they are around, etc. The weed dragon what the larger one is called. Back in the 50s and 60s everybody torched their weeds.

So the teflon tape does not electrically insulate the anode threads from the tank threads? I hope not because the Corro-Protec will not work unless it makes electrical contact with the tank.

Great presentation that help so much to do the job well and quickly. Good info from you and murky2502 on calling Delta to send the cartridge for free. Cartridge lifetime warranty. Maybe the trim kit too replace handle. If you buy a replacement trim kit, which includes the handle, it will also come with the cartridge.

Used pb blaster,,, it worked But,,, didnt blot up excess and pb blaster got into tank,,, been months,, still smell pb blaster when turn on hot water,,, added dawn flushed hw heater,,, odor of pb blaster better but still there. Impact better option

Idk what doing wrong, did mine exactly like this and water leaks out the middle when turn on water.

Anyone know how to tell if your 1700 is pre-2006 or post-2006? I had one installed around 2008 and suspect the plumber used an older model. Want to be sure before I order the new part.

Question. While replacing the cartridge on mine, i had trouble removing the brass bonnet/collar. I was in the process of sawing through it because i tried literally everything else when it started to unscrew... Instead of replacing it, I just put it back on. There aren't any apparent leaks... Do you think I'm okay to leave it as it is? There is enough metal there to hold the bonnet together, but it's almost sawed through. Does the bonnet on that type of unit serve any purpose besides holding the cartridge against the springs and keeping the cartridge in place?

I found this video last year and did this to our primary shower and it has been heaven! The water used to get so cold very quickly! Now it is much hotter than what it used to be but very comfortable and stays that way. Came back to this video as a refresher so I can do the same to our guest bathroom

Put your Tape. on higher up on the pipe threads.Because you don't want it on the end to wear it.Possibly can come off and get entrained in the pipe .Very nice info on on the follow up . I would like to bring up that the old system was zinc and I believe it's more expensive, magnesium.Or aluminum. I never heard of this rotten smell on the really old hot water heaters and they were said to be made out of Zinc .

Thanks for this. I have a 2012 Kia Sorrento. I took the 3 bolts out of the motor that holds it to the door frame and removed it from the gear in the door frame. Without any restriction in the gear, window slid up easily and put the motor back into the gear. Reattached the door and put a plastic wedge on the inside of the window and door so it doesn’t slide down until my new motor arrives tomorrow from Amazon.

I would like to vote this as the most comprehensive review on hot water heater anode rods. I myself just bought a house. It feels like the ultimate showdown between man and house sometimes. Sometimes I think this fixer-upper house is going to win. LOL

I agree that wifi seems silly on all kitchen appliances, however it may help with apps that repair.

Before reinstalling the brass bonnet nut, i use a wire brush to clean the inside threads. Also apply plumbers grease to the inner and outer threads of brass bonnet nut to make easier removal in the future if needed.

You shouldn’t use drywall anchors with anti-tip devices. You need to go straight into a stud or it’s useless

What's that you're pouring at the last? Is that required?

I must ask, did the new anode leak from the threads? Teflon tape has to be put on so it tightens against the threads as you turn it. If you put it on BACKWARDS the tape gets pushed out and doesn't do its job of sealing the threads.
